New Strategy to Curb Impulse Shopping

This afternoon I was on a client call with Lucie C. in Atlanta, GA.As we finished going through her expenses she told me about how she is trying to stop spending money on things she doesn't need. After our Introductory Call about a week ago, she realized that much of her spending was out of habit, rather than really wanting to purchase those particular items.Since then, when she feels the urge to make a purchase, she imagines that item, six months from now, sitting on a table at a garage sale. This simple strategy has completely changed her perspective. It's a great tactic and one I haven't heard before. I asked her if I could share it and she was kind enough to give me permission. So, the next time you're considering an impulse purchase, ask yourself how quickly it's going to end up in a box destined for a yard sale or the Goodwill.
