Strive, But Be Thankful

By Melissa TosettiOften while we work toward goals, we become dissatisfied with our current situation. It’s understandable, but if you’re always striving toward your goals, it’s so easy to be in a constant state of dissatisfaction.  That’s a miserable way to live!  So, what do you do?A key component to savvy living is to appreciate and take care of what you already own.  If your goal is to purchase a new car, while you work to achieve that goal, keep the car you already own clean and ensure it receives proper maintenance. It’s likely that at some point, that car was something you wanted and you worked to achieve.  Give it the respect it deserves. The same goes for your house.  You may not love everything about where you’re currently living, but keeping your home clean and well maintained will show respect and appreciation for what you do have and will also help you like it a little more while you work to purchase a new home.Taking care of what you have applies to all things in your life – your clothes, appliances, computer, gadgets and furniture. While it’s important to set goals, don’t fall into the trap of living for tomorrow. Living for tomorrow leaves you in a gap of misery. Taking care of what you already own shows respect for the goals you’ve achieved and will help you appreciate what you have right now.To quote Oogway from Kung Fu Panda: Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the "present"._________________________________________________________________________Melissa Tosetti is the founder of The Savvy Life and author of the international bestseller Living The Savvy Life. For the past eight years, she’s worked with over 450 individuals and families to create Spending Plans.Melissa also works with financial advisors and their clients doing cash flow planning as well as giving over 200 Savvy Living presentations via webinar and in-person to audiences across the U.S.If you’d like to learn more about how Melissa works with clients visit The Savvy Life’s Programs page. If you’d like to learn more about how Melissa works with financial advisors and their clients visit: The Savvy Life Advisor’s Page
